Our final morning was spent around Peninis Head in very windy conditions. Only birds of note were a Sooty Shearwater and up to 100 Gannets feeding. I'm not the best on boats so given the size of the waves out at sea it looked like it wasn't going to be easy.
Although it was the roughest I'd personally encountered, sometime it felt the boat was on it's side, I stuck to one position and only lifted my binoculars if there was something close I really wanted to see. All the birders were confident of seeing a excellent selection of birds but had to make do with 3 Great Skua's , Manx Shearwater and Kittiwakes.
We are picked up quickly by Brad's Dad who took us up to our car at Paul's house. A strong coffee was needed at Exeter to break the journey up back to the Midlands. Thankfully I was tucked up by 11pm, roll on next year. Many thanks to Paul Freestone who organised the week and the lads (Squire, Jake, Brad, Adam & Rolly) for their great company. Special mention to Dave Soons, Scott Reid & Simon J Slade who kindly gave permission to use their images.
