Red-crested Pochard starts year at the pits

Red-crested Pochard
 Goosanders
Stonechat

A genuine surprise on Saturday morning when I found a Red-crested Pochard on the main pit, our first record since November 2015. The duck was very mobile and only stuck around for a few hours but a cracking bird for us at the patch.

Mike came down late morning but it had already moved on but he did record a Jack Snipe on Pophills.  Please note Mike had a new smart phone for Christmas so stand by for random messages & pocket calls (I've already had one).

The wintering pair of Stonechats showed well in the fenced enclosure past the central lagoon whilst other sightings included 3 Goosander, 6 Shoveler, 2 Teal, 4 Gadwall & 11 Lapwing.
