It was a week or so too early to head futher south from Hall Wall for some of Dartmoors butterflies so I decided to have a fantastic hour at Rough Bank in Gloucestershire. Only 20 minutes off the M5 it was a perfect stop for a relaxing walk. Redstarts were calling from the top of the chalk banks as the Adonis Blues rose from the grass as the temperature warmed. This species became my 27th of the year, quite amazing given the slow start to the year. Other species I recorded was Red Admiral, Large White, Small Blue & Common Blue.
